The 28.5-metre Su Marine motor yacht Darwin sold in Turkey. The sale was concluded in-house at Northrop and Johnson, with Deniz Kaymaz representing both the buyer and seller. Photo: Su Marine Darwin, launched in 2013, is a modern take on the classic gentleman’s yacht. Taka Yacht Design oversaw her exterior styling and naval architecture, designing her as an economical cruiser suited for the Mediterranean. She has been well-maintained, completing her 10-year RINA survey in 2021 and received a number of mechanical updates last year. The motor yacht spans two decks and offers 120 GT of interior volume. Su Marine’s in-house studio curated her interior spaces, creating a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. With four staterooms, comprising a full-beam owner’s suite, a VIP, a double and two twins, Darwin can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests. She can also host three crew. She is constructed with a wood hull and superstructure and has been “recognised as the quietest yacht on the market in her range,” according to Northrop & Johnson. Her wooden hull was cold-moulded and reinforced with fibre cloth with epoxy resin, making her incredibly durable. Power is drawn from twin MAN engines that deliver a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 21 knots. Darwin is also equipped with a 65 horsepower hydraulic bow thruster and at-anchor stabilisers.Darwin was asking €4,250,000 at the time of her sale.
